On Moving Beyond Fear and Anger

“In the early fall of 2000…I realized that fear is behind all of life’s challenges— fear of lack, of being attacked, of loss. Right there I made a commitment to embark on a quest to eliminate fear from my life. Two weeks later a shaman appeared. In general, a shaman is one who can ‘walk between the worlds’. It is one who can enter the Spirit world and bring back relevant information. This one gave me countless books to read and worked with me to learn shamanic ways. As I pursued this path, I found much fear living inside me. Throughout my life, I had always had a problem with anger. No matter what I did, I couldn’t seem to go longer than a few months without a blowup. I tried prayer, meditation and different forms of exercise, but nothing brought lasting relief. The moment I made a decision to come into the Now, however, I realized that anger was just fear turned outward. My temper vanished overnight.”
